On April 23, 1564 a son, William, was born to John and Mary Shakespeare in Stratford-upon-Avon. His female parent was the daughter of a farmer. His male parent was a glove-maker. William went to a grammar school in Stratford and had quite a practiced pedagogy. There he learned to love reading. While notwithstanding a teenager, William married Anne Hathaway, a farmersouth daughter some years older than himself. We dont know how he earned his living during these early years, peradventure he helped his father in the family unit business. During these years his 3 children were born: Susannah, the eldest, then twins a son, Hamnet (not Village), and another girl, Judith. In 1587 Shakespeare went to work in London, leaving Anne and the children at domicile. We dont know exactly why he did it. Some people say that the reason was his beloved of poesy and theatre. Simply in that location is another story which says that he had to run away from police force because he killed some deer belonging to a rich man.

In London Shakespeare began to act and to write plays and soon became an important member of a well-known acting company. About of his plays were performed in the new Earth Theatre built on the bank of the River Thames. In 1613 he stopped writing and went to live in Stratford where he died in 1616.

THE ACTORS COME TO Town

(from the book William Shakespeare past Jennifer Basset)

The story is told past Will Shakespeares friend, Toby. twoscore. Volition married Anne Hathaway in Nov and she came to live in Henley Street. John Shakespeare was pleased that his oldest son was married just I dont recall Willsouth mother wanted him to ally so immature: Will was but xviii.

Susannah was built-in the adjacent year. All babies look the same to me only Will was very pleased with her.

Await, Toby, shes got my optics, he said happily. Shes going to be as cute as the Queen of Egypt and as clever as King Solomon.

Oh yep! I said. All parents talk similar that virtually their children. I knew Willsouthward wife Anne didnt like me. To her, I was one of Wills wild friends who got him into trouble. She came from a very serious, puritan1 family unit. A lot ofvchurch-going and no singing or dancing. Merely Volition and I still went around together when nosotros could.

Shortly in that location was another infant on the mode2 and ane evening in Feb 1585 I hurried round to Henley Street to hear the news. Wills sister, Joan, opened the door, then Will came running down the stairs.

Itsouthward two of them! he said. Twins! A girl and a male child. Isnt that wonderful! Volition called the twins Hamnet and Judith. John Shakespeare was very pleased to take his first grandson and everyone was happy. For a while.

Stratfords likewise minor, Toby, he said. Too slow. Too quiet. Likewise deadening. Ive got to become abroad.

Yep, but how? I asked. Youve got a family iii young children, recall.

He didnt answer.

In the summer months companies of players often came to pocket-size towns and in 1587 5 different companies came to Stratford. Volition and I ever went to see the plays. Volition loved to talk to the actors and to listen to all their stories of London.

The Queensouthward Men came to Stratford in June and we went to see the play. I dont call up what it was. I know that I laughed a lot, and that Will said it was a stupid play with non a word of poetry in it.

Why dont you lot write a play yourself? I asked him.

Write a play? he laughed. Anne will never speak to me again.

I didnt say anything and Will looked at me and laughed over again.

It happened a few months subsequently. I walked into the Shakespeares kitchen one evening and there was Anne with a carmine, angry face, shouting at the top of her voice.

How can you do this to me? And what almost the children? So she saw me and stopped.

Will was sitting at the tabular array and looked pleased to see me. Ive told Anne, he said quietly, that Ithousand going to live in London. I desire to be an actor and to write plays if I tin.

Plays! screamed Anne. Acting! Actors are dirty, wicked people! Theyre all thieves and criminals! They drink all 24-hour interval and they never get to church...

Dont be stupid, Anne. You know thats not truthful. Mind. Ill come dwelling when I can but I must go to London. I cant do anything in Stratford. He looked at me across the room. Are yous coming with me, Toby?

How before long shall nosotros showtime? I asked.
